WHAT IS SSAIMS?!

SSAIMS is:

1. Systemic, Situated, Aleatoric Music Solutions
2. No-one's really sure but it's maybe got something to do with music..? Well, maybe not necessarily.

It was thought that while our jams were great fun for us at the time, when listening back, we felt the urge to fast forward. To cut to the chase quicker, no faffing about to find the key, no faffing about deciding on a tempo, and then to keep 'em coming and (fun as it is) not to get too addicted to a single riff for an entire hour, so change every 5 minutes.

What SSAIMS has been in the past:

1. A mainly electronic private 'jam' with a continually varying lineup defined by a rota: Over the course of 3hrs players ABCDE cycle through every possible combination of players at 5 minute intervals in a specific order.
2. A similar mainly electronic private 'jam' with a continually varying lineup where each musician is given a specific role.
3. A completely unstructured shambles of a live improvisational performance no-one was particularly pleased with.
4. An evening's live improvisational performance with a continually varying lineup defined by the rota with video projections that also change every 5 minutes intended to inspire the mood for that piece. And two drummers and a 5 minute drum solo.
5. An evening's mainly acoustic live improvisational jam/performance without rota where the root note of the current piece is defined at random by computer.
6. An evening's live improvisational performance with lineup defined by rota where the key and tempo are defined at random by computer and accompanied by a similarly randomly chosen video projection.
7. THIS ONE HAS NOT HAPPENED YET. Discussion is meant to occur to decide what should occur. Rota/no rota, video projection/no video projection, keymachine/no keymachine? Something new?
